He’s in the Waiting.
Spring has always been my favorite season—minus the pollen that triggers my allergies. There’s just something about it. The colors return, flowers begin to bloom, trees slowly turn green again, butterflies reappear, and even the way people dress begins to shift. Everything feels alive, renewed, and full of beauty.
But recently, I caught myself feeling impatient. I remember wondering, “What is going on? Why aren’t the flowers blooming yet?” It felt like everything was taking too long. In that moment, I sensed God gently correcting my heart, “Why are you rushing My work?” That question stopped me. I realized I was trying to hurry something that was never meant to be rushed.
We have winter for a reason. It’s a season of slowing down, of preparation, of unseen growth. Ecclesiastes 3:1 reminds us, “There is a time for everything, and a season for every activity under the heavens.” Even the dormant seasons have purpose.
Things must die or rest to make room for what is to come.
God reminded me that it wasn’t time for everything to bloom yet. There is intention behind every detail of His timing. In that moment, my heart shifted. I found myself asking for forgiveness—for rushing Him, for overlooking the beauty in the process—and I asked Him to open my eyes.
Almost immediately, I began to notice the small things. The daffodils on the side of the road. The dandelions growing in the yard. Tiny green leaves appearing little by little. It was subtle at first, but then suddenly, everything began to bloom. And I realized something: the beauty had been there all along—I was just moving too fast to see it.
Psalm 46:10 says, “Be still, and know that I am God.” Stillness creates space for awareness. It allows us to see what God is doing, even in the smallest details.
That realization didn’t just change how I viewed the season—it changed how I viewed my life. How often am I moving too quickly, missing what God is doing right in front of me? How many moments have I rushed through, not realizing they held purpose, growth, or even quiet beauty?
God spoke clearly to my heart: “slow down so you can see My work.”
Interestingly, our church had just begun a “40 Days in the Word” journey, and I truly believe this moment was preparation for that. It required me to pause, to be intentional, and to make space for God’s voice. Psalm 27:14 says, “Wait for the Lord; be strong and take heart and wait for the Lord.”
Waiting isn’t wasted—it’s where God often does His deepest work.
So I’ll leave you with this question: How often are you rushing through something and missing the details God has placed before you?
Take time to sit with Him.
Ask Him to reveal where you may be moving too quickly.
Invite Him to help you notice the small things—the quiet ways He’s working in your life.
When you do, it will shift your heart toward gratitude.
Just like He slowed me down to appreciate the beauty of spring, He wants to open your eyes too. And when He does, you’ll begin to see not only what He’s doing—but who He is: a God who is intentional, present, and full of love for you.
God’s Love and Mine,
Carrie
