39 & Blessed.

This past Friday, March 13, 2026, was my 39th birthday—and I can honestly say it was the best birthday I can remember.

I woke up that morning feeling so blessed. I started my day with a Pilates workout, followed by a quiet moment of praise and worship in my living room, just thanking God for allowing me to see another year. After that, I even got to take a peaceful shower—without being interrupted by my three-year-old, which in itself felt like a gift.

We got the girls ready and off to daycare and school, and then Kevin took me to First Watch, one of my favorite places for breakfast. I ordered a steak hash bowl and an immune-boosting juice to go with it. After breakfast, he took me to get my nails done. He stayed in the car and took a little nap—lol.

After that, we drove around for a bit, and he said, “Okay, we’re going to walk through Marshalls and see if there’s anything you like because your third surprise isn’t until 2.”I remember thinking how nice it felt to just enjoy the day without feeling rushed or stressed.

Then came my third surprise—a massage. And let me tell you, it was one of the best massages I’ve ever had.

After the massage, we picked up the girls and headed home. He told me I had about an hour to relax before getting ready because he was taking me to dinner. I asked if the girls were coming, and he said, “Nope, just me and you.I instantly knew it was going to be special.

While we were getting ready, we ended up killing some time because of our reservation. So there I was, all dressed up, walking through Lowe’s to pick up a rake—which honestly made me laugh. Then we stopped by Target (another favorite), and finally headed to dinner at Timberwood Grill.

When I walked in, all of our friends were there—kid-free.

Kevin had arranged for babysitters for everyone’s children so we could all enjoy a night together. After dinner, we went to Dairy Queen for Blizzards, and it was just the perfect ending to an already perfect day.

Everything about my birthday was so intentional.I felt so seen, so heard, and so loved.

One of the things I’ve been praying for in my marriage is for my husband to truly see me, hear me, and step into my world every so often. And without a doubt, that’s exactly what he did for me on my birthday.

From the quiet morning of worship, to my favorite breakfast spot, to what I would call a full spa day, to bringing together the people we love for uninterrupted, adult time—it all showed how much thought and effort he put into that day, and how deeply he understands what I need.

As I write this, tears come to my eyes because I am so grateful—for him, and for God’s love over both of us. I’m thankful that God hears us, sees us, and moves our hearts when they need to be moved.

I had originally written a different blog to share today about feeling safe and loved in my marriage, but I realized these two things go hand in hand.

This birthday didn’t just make me feel celebrated—it reminded me how safe I am with Kevin.

My husband is truly an answered prayer. He loves God with everything in him, and I would not trade this man for the world.

If you are a woman who has been in toxic or unhealthy relationships and feel like your chance at real love has passed you by, I want to encourage you—give it to God. Lay your fears at the cross. Lay your insecurities at the cross. Allow God to work. Allow Him to restore your soul, open your eyes, and prepare your heart for the person He has written into your story.

I truly believe Kevin was always part of mine.

And I am so thankful I took the time to surrender my fears and insecurities to God. I am thankful I allowed myself the space to understand who God created me to be. And I am thankful I allowed Him to open my heart and my eyes to receive the love He had for me all along.

This year was very special and I am thankful for God blessing me to see another year and allowing me to see the blessings He has given me along the way. I can’t wait to see what this full year brings!

God’s Love and Mine,

Carrie
